Baiyun strives for smart, eco-friendly urban landscape
Monitoring data shows that all 18 primary tributaries of the Shijing River basin are now free of inferior Class V water quality. Baihaimian's restoration was recognized as one of Guangdong province's top 10 environmental supervision cases, with water quality reaching Class III standards from January to July this year.
The district's commitment to water management is evident in its achievements since 2025, including the removal of 165 illegal water-related structures and the standardization of 7,288 drainage facilities, ensuring a healthy water cycle where rainwater flows into rivers and sewage is treated.

Baiyun has also embraced the sponge city concept, constructing 222 kilometers of eco-friendly greenways. These efforts are complemented by the creation of high-quality green spaces, such as forest trails on Nanhu Mountain, offering residents better access to nature.
The district's advancements extend to air quality, with innovative technologies like drones, laser radar, and AI surveillance enhancing environmental monitoring. By implementing stringent dust control measures, Baiyun has achieved 91.5 percent of the total days of 2025 with excellent air quality.
As Baiyun continues to prioritize environmental preservation, its initiatives in recycling and waste management further underscore its commitment to sustainable development. With projects like the Helong Sanitation Recycling Center, Baiyun is continuing to set benchmarks in smart waste management.
