Yuntai Garden, located at the southern foot of Baiyun Mountain, covers an area of 250,000 square meters. It is backed by Yuntai Ridge of Baiyun Mountain and is famous for perennial flowers; hence its name. It is the largest landscape garden with ornamental exotic plants in China. Inspired by the design of the Butchart Gardens in Canada, Yuntai Garden completed construction and opened on Sept 28, 1995.

With more than 20 scenic spots, the garden features a European design and oriental landscape. Thematic flower exhibitions and lantern shows are hosted annually, attracting a steady stream of visitors.

In 2011, with the support of the Guangzhou municipal government, an ecological valley covering an area of about 130,000 square meters was developed, becoming famous for its landscape and natural beauty. The valley opened to public as the exhibition venue of the 17th and 18th Guangzhou Garden Expo during Spring Festival in 2011 and 2012.

Since the opening of Yuntai Garden, visitor arrivals have increased steadily, with the garden receiving more than 2 million tourists annually. It has also played host to several Party and state leaders, as well as officials of Guangzhou's sister cities. The garden acts as an important platform to display Guangzhou's image, which combines the essence of traditional Chinese and western styles, as well as international friendship.
