Experience premier festival at 13th Zhengxian Cultural Tourism Week

The 13th Zhengxian Cultural Tourism Week began on Aug 24 at Baiyun Mountain, with an eight-day feast of intangible cultural heritage.

Zhengxian Festival, also known as Guangzhou's First Birth Festival, has a rich history dating back over 1,600 years and is based on the legend of Zheng Anqi, an alchemist who ascended to immortality after saving the people of Guangzhou.

This year's theme, "Visit Baiyun Mountain, Pray for Prosperity, and Enjoy a Healthy Life", promises a rich blend of traditional and modern elements. Highlights include the Zhengxian Parade, which features six unique formations such as "Little Herbal Immortals" and "Hanfu Poetry Gathering", weaving through the scenic Baiyun Mountain and culminating at the mountaintop plaza.

Zhengxian Feast is a culinary celebration that combines traditional Chinese medicinal cuisine with Baiyun Mountain specialties, offering dishes like "Zhengxian Herbal Feast" and "Yunshan Delicacies". Zhengxian Ceremony scheduled for Aug 28, and will guide children through a meaningful ritual that instills traditional cultural values in their hearts.

Additional activities include night movies, parent-child interactive stage plays, health rituals, guided walks, concerts, and performances series at the mountaintop plaza. The festival also features a trendy health-themed market, "Zhengxian Wellness Market", showcasing Cantonese herbal teas, modern tea drinks, and traditional Chinese medicine.
