In 2024, Baiyun's GDP reached 315.64 billion yuan, surpassing the 300-billion-yuan mark for the first time, to rank fourth in Guangzhou. This marked a 5.2 percent growth rate—the city's second-highest—and contributed the most to Guangzhou's overall economic expansion.

Baiyun's economic vitality comes from its strength in both traditional industries and emerging sectors, according to a senior official from the Baiyun district development and reform bureau.

Traditional industries are accelerating transformation, while emerging industries are flourishing, with sectors like cosmetics and agricultural products leading the nation.

The engine driving this growth is the "6+6+X" modern industrial system—six 100-billion-yuan-level clusters, six 10-billion-yuan-level clusters, and multiple future industries.

The "six 100-billion" pillars encompass smart manufacturing, cosmetics and health, new-generation IT, rail transit, aviation and modern logistics, and construction; the "six 10-billion" include smart home appliances, modern agriculture, cultural tourism, creative design, and commercial services; while "X" covers forward-looking fields such as humanoid robots, the low-altitude economy, biomanufacturing, and new energy storage.

In 2024, Baiyun's cosmetics industry crossed 60 billion yuan in scale; new industries like new energy and new-type energy storage will grow even faster in the future, with the district set to build a 100-billion-yuan strategic emerging cluster, accelerating the growth of solar, hydrogen, and other industries to boost the entire supply chain.
