Baiyun wins smart city award for 6th consecutive year

Guangzhou's Baiyun district has once again been awarded the title of "China's Leading Smart District" at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Smart City Awards ceremony held during the 27th China Hi-Tech Fair.

This achievement marks the sixth consecutive year the district has received this honor, making it the only administrative district in Guangzhou to achieve this feat.

Baiyun district's smart city initiatives have produced notable results. In urban governance, systems like smart city management and smart emergency response have ensured effective management, with a long-term problem rectification rate of around 99 percent. In public services, the district has developed smart education and healthcare systems, earning recognition as a national pilot area for trusted education digital identity.

Baiyun has achieved significant milestones in the digital economy, including the first administrative data intellectual property transaction. The contract registration at the Guangzhou Data Exchange (Baiyun) service zone has surpassed 1.6 billion yuan ($224.96 million). The district now hosts 110 internet and IT service enterprises above the designated size, with revenue from January to September 2025 increasing by 19.1 percent year-on-year.

Baiyun district is making steady progress from implementing smart sensors to achieving comprehensive digital intelligence by deploying over 1.4 million sensors and creating district-level computing centers, demonstrating an exemplary approach to urban digital transformation.
