Guangzhou's former motorcycle plant reborn as auto mod hub
The former site of the Wuyang steel pipe plant of Guangzhou Motorcycle Group in Baiyun district, Guangzhou, once a testament to the rise of the city's motorcycle industry, has been transformed into a creative park for auto modification culture.
With an investment of approximately 50 million yuan ($7.2 million), Guangzhou Motorcycle Group has revitalized this nearly 40,000-square-meter industrial space, preserving its original architectural framework while infusing it with modern design elements.

The park's standout feature is its respect for industrial heritage, with historical buildings meticulously restored. This innovative blend of history and modernity aims to establish the park as Asia's largest high-end auto modification hub, focusing on the aftermarket and luxury vehicle upgrades.
Currently in its first phase, the park has attracted global brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Tesla. Plans for the second phase include expanding into the used car market to meet the growing demand for modified vehicles.
The park also supports Guangzhou Automobile Group's industrial strategy, aiming to evolve into an international auto culture district featuring exhibitions, parts displays, and R&D. With an average of nearly 100 vehicles modified daily, businesses like Che Shang You are expanding rapidly, leveraging platforms like Douyin (Chinese version of TikTok) for nationwide reach.
"We are optimistic about the park's prospects due to its large scale and high-end industrial positioning," said Li Xibai, general manager of Che Shang You. "Our business has extended from automotive exterior refurbishment to include interior services, maintenance, and comprehensive one-stop services."
