Updated : April 1, 2026

A 40-kilometer forest trail in Baiyun district of Guangzhou has opened to the public, marking a significant step forward in the district's urban greening efforts.

This trail is a crucial segment of the planned 140-kilometer forest trail network in the district. It links the ecological hubs of Baiyun Mountain, Nanhu Mountain and Maofeng Mountain, extending south to connect with Huolongfeng Forest Trail in Tianhe district. This cross-district network facilitates an uninterrupted urban forest hiking experience from the outskirts to the city center.

It is designed with permeable surfaces and wooden walkways to preserve the natural ecosystem. It features gentle slopes and rest stations to cater to families, seniors and hiking enthusiasts. Safety facilities and educational signs enhance the trail's appeal, offering both security and opportunities for nature education, creating a walkable, scenic and informative ecological corridor.

Three main routes are recommended to offer varied experiences: the 7.5-km moderate trail linking Laowu to Liupian mountains, ideal for viewing core ecological landscapes; the challenging 10-km trail from Modao South Street to Liupian Mountain, suited for experienced hikers; and the 2.5-km Dongping Fire Station loop, perfect for seniors and children, featuring scenic platforms and a visit to the Phoenix Mountain Sky Pool.
