Reading for all event kicks off in Baiyun
A reading-for-all event was launched at the Baiyun District Library in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong province, on April 2, to advocate and encourage reading among the general public.
This month-long event aims to weave the cultural heritage and ecological beauty of Baiyun district through books. It features authors' talks, "Walking Baiyun" routes, public book-sharing events, and captivating performances, enhancing the "Yunsheng Langlang" reading brand with culture and Baiyun's unique charm.
The event began with a soothing instrumental performance that set an elegant literary tone. Renowned author Chen Sicheng, known for her intricate works on Lingnan culture, shared her reading experiences, immersing the audience in the power of words.

A promotional video highlighted the district's rich reading atmosphere fostered by the "Yunsheng Langlang" brand. The Baiyun District Language Art Association's recital, Gu Jin Song Bai Yun (Reciting Baiyun from Ancient to Modern Times), and Jingtai Primary School's performance, Ci Xin An Chu Shi Wu Xiang (Home is Where the Heart is), further enriched the event.
Three "Walking Baiyun" study routes were unveiled, linking cultural landmarks, ecological sites, and intangible cultural heritage resources to promote a novel "reading + walking" model.
A book donation ceremony also took place, providing quality reading materials to local schools and libraries and enhancing grassroots access to literature.
Throughout April, Baiyun district will host 47 key activities, including comic exhibitions, heritage studies, and reading sessions for all ages, to ensure widespread community engagement and foster a vibrant reading culture.
