Off-season red maples light up Guangzhou's summer
Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province and renowned for its lush summer greenery, now boasts an unexpected burst of color as Maofeng Mountain's red maples have entered their viewing period.
Over 3,000 Japanese maple trees, known for their delicate, beautiful leaves, have turned the landscape into a tapestry of reds, offering a unique "off-season romance" distinct to the Lingnan region.
Thanks to favorable weather conditions, the red maples have changed color two weeks earlier than usual, marking the best viewing period from now until late May. Unlike the northern regions' autumnal hues, Maofeng Mountain's red maples provide a striking contrast to the fresh green leaves, creating a picturesque "half green, half red" scene on the mountain.
Visitors are advised to visit the Red Maple Garden between 8 and 10 am for the best lighting and color display. Daily misting at 10 am and 3 pm adds to the enchanting atmosphere. For the perfect photo, wear light-colored clothing to stand out against the red foliage.
Beyond the maples, Maofeng Mountain offers several attractions, including the serene Tianhu Lake, the historic Maofeng Ancient Temple and a panoramic view from the mountain's summit. After a day of exploration, indulge in local delicacies like Taihe roasted chicken and mountain water tofu.
Maofeng Mountain invites you to experience its fiery red maples and enjoy a peaceful retreat amid nature's beauty.
