Peak durian season begins at Baiyun wholesale market
As the new durian season begins in Thailand, the Jiangnonghui Fruit Wholesale Market in Baiyun district, Guangzhou, is entering its busiest period of the year.
From April 20 through mid-May into early June, the largest hub for imported fruits in China will see the peak season for the popular Thai Monthong durian.

Zhao Zhi, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Jiangnonghui Market Service Management, said the overall supply of durians is excellent this year, with abundant stock and a more stable taste and ripeness compared to last year.
In response to the booming market demand, Jiangnonghui is actively enhancing its service capabilities. "We continue to optimize the facilities of the market to improve circulation efficiency, striving to ensure that goods are transferred on the same day they arrive, maximizing freshness," Zhao said.

As a premier wholesale market, Jiangnonghui is deeply involved in direct sourcing, cold chain transportation, and rapid distribution, maintaining strict quality control to ensure product quality.
With the upcoming May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, consumer demand is expected to rise further, with several buyers reporting increased weekend sales volumes. Market officials anticipate stable market conditions in the coming weeks, with prices ranging from 700 to 1,000 yuan ($146) per box (20 kilograms), depending on the grade.
