While many people embarked on trips back home to gather with family during the May Day holiday from May 1-5, enterprises in Baiyun district of Guangzhou ramped up production to meet rising demand driven by increased orders.

The 139th China Import and Export Fair, or the Canton Fair, has sparked a surge in foreign trade, coinciding with the domestic holiday shopping season. As a result, companies like Guangdong Shifei Cosmetics and Guangdong Baisheng Packaging & Color Printing have become much busier. Orders are being booked two months in advance, with all employees on deck and the sounds of machinery and assembly lines creating a busy atmosphere.

Zhang Shenjun, chairman of Shifei, noted the company's strong R&D capabilities and trendy new products attracted nearly 300 batches of visitors daily at the Canton Fair, resulting in numerous orders from Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia.

"Our production schedule is full for the next two months. While our sales team is busy at the fair, the factory is racing against time to fulfill orders," Zhang said.

Baisheng also secured significant overseas orders during the Canton Fair, with clients planning Christmas packaging well in advance. Simultaneously, domestic demand for mooncake gift boxes has surged. General Manager Fang Jun emphasized their commitment to being the "face" of client brands through meticulous packaging design and production.

Meanwhile, as South China's largest fresh produce hub, Qiandama Jianggao Distribution Center operated at full capacity to ensure ample fresh supplies during the holiday, maintaining a daily throughput of more than 500 metric tons.
