The 2026 Baiyun Homestay Conference opened at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center on May 13, launching the "Baiyun Suji" Homestay Industry Alliance to promote integrated development of rural accommodation in Guangzhou's Baiyun district.
The alliance brings together upstream and downstream players across the homestay supply chain, covering design, investment, operations, training and supporting services. It aims to provide one-stop solutions for investors and shift local homestay businesses from isolated operations to collaborative growth.
Three Baiyun homestays were named to Guangdong's "Golden Pillow" must-stay recommendation list during the conference. Baiyun's culture, broadcasting, tourism and sports bureau also signed strategic cooperation agreements with China Construction Eighth Engineering Division and Shaanxi Culture Industry Investment Group to advance urban-rural cultural tourism development.
Running alongside the conference, the Guangdong Rural Hotel and Homestay Connectivity Exhibition attracted over 30 exhibitors showcasing smart equipment, design materials, outdoor leisure products and operational services.
Industry experts at the conference noted that China's homestay sector has entered a phase of quality-driven development focused on village integration. Baiyun aims to capitalize on its ecological assets and half-hour economic radius to become a prime urban micro-vacation destination.
