Guangzhou's Baiyun district signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Otis Elevator (China), a global leader in the elevator industry, on May 19, marking a major step in the district's push to strengthen its intelligent equipment sector.
Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate to establish an intelligent elevator sales headquarters in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, build an industry training base, and foster a smart equipment ecosystem in Baiyun. The partnership aims to integrate intelligent elevator technology with the district's urban development and industrial upgrading, while connecting with local innovation enterprises to build a collaborative industry platform.

Baiyun has designated intelligent equipment and robotics as one of its six 100-billion-yuan ($14.71-billion) strategic emerging clusters, supported by substantial industrial infrastructure and application scenarios.
Otis, with its deep technology expertise and full-lifecycle service experience in intelligent elevator systems, is expected to provide comprehensive solutions for Baiyun's key platforms, construction projects and urban renewal initiatives.
The district said the collaboration represents a crucial step in reinforcing its modern industrial chain and will help position Baiyun as a benchmark for the intelligent equipment sector in the Greater Bay Area.
