Guangzhou's Baiyun district has launched a car purchase promotion campaign offering tens of thousands of consumption vouchers and trade-in subsidies of up to 20,000 yuan ($2,948.44) as part of the city's broader "Guangdong Premium Purchase" auto consumption drive running through Dec 31.

The campaign brings together over 150 auto dealers along Baiyun Automobile Avenue, featuring major dealer groups, including Nanling, Hongyue, Haocheng and Guangwu Auto Trade, covering both domestic and international brands.

Under the current subsidy framework, new car purchases are eligible for up to 5,000 yuan in subsidies. For trade-ins, consumers scrapping old vehicles for new energy cars can receive 12 percent of the sales price, capped at 20,000 yuan, while those switching to fuel vehicles can claim 10 percent, up to 15,000 yuan. Replacement upgrades qualify for subsidies of 8 percent for NEVs and 6 percent for fuel cars, with caps of 15,000 yuan and 13,000 yuan, respectively.

Participating dealers are offering additional incentives, including zero down payment, interest-free installments and free maintenance packages. The district said the campaign aims to sustain auto consumption momentum, following January-April sales at above-quota dealerships that reached nearly 10 billion yuan.

Baiyun's auto retail sales exceeded 26 billion yuan in 2025, accounting for over 20 percent of Guangzhou's total, with trade-in sales ranking second citywide.
