As the gaokao, or college entrance exam, has concluded, the lychee harvest season in South China's Guangdong province is in full swing, making it the perfect time for a lychee-themed tour.

The Guangzhou Railway Group, in collaboration with the cities of Dongguan, Maoming, and Zhanjiang in the province, has launched a cultural and tourism initiative titled "Ride the High-Speed Train, Taste Lychee, and Enjoy Guangdong".

Students aged 14 and above, including 2026 high school graduates, and their parents can enjoy a 20 percent discount on second-class high-speed train tickets.

The event, running from June 15 to July 5, features over 260 trains with discount services covering major stations in Guangdong and Hunan provinces, with special "Lychee Tour: Discounted Train for Students" labels helping travelers easily identify eligible trains on the 12306 railway ticket platform and the "Guangzhou Railway" WeChat account.

Tickets are purchased at full price, with a 20 percent refund available at designated stations upon arrival. Students must present a valid ID card and student identification, while accompanying parents are required to show their ID cards and proof of parent-child relationship.

Refunds must be claimed within seven days of arrival, and the discount applies only once per ID at each destination. Onboard ticket adjustments are not eligible for the discount.
