Longgang Wampee Culture Festival to kick off
The ninth Longgang Wampee Culture Festival is set to kick off in Longgang village, Baiyun district, Guangzhou, on June 18, celebrating the early harvest of the renowned heart-shaped, golden yellow fruit.
Running for five days until June 22, covering the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the festival features a grand array of events, including dazzling fireworks displays and large-scale stage performances.

On the opening day, visitors can enjoy exciting performances such as the traditional lion dance on high poles and the original dance Huang Pi Wa Wa (Wampee Doll). Longgang village will unveil comprehensive cultural tourism routes, highlighting attractions like the ancient village, wampee orchards, and rural markets.
From 10 am to 10 pm every day during the festival, visitors can explore various specialty markets within the village, offering a one-stop experience of Cantonese delicacies and wampee products.

As night falls, the festival will light up with Cantonese music, folk performances, and themed fireworks shows. On the evening of June 20, a grand banquet featuring dishes such as Wampee Leaf Baked Shrimp and Wampee Steamed Fish will be held in front of the Ancestral Hall of the Zeng Family, with 100 tables available for reservation, inviting locals and visitors alike to join in this culinary celebration.
