Guangzhou, Sydney host dual exhibitions in tribute to artist Tang Jixiang
Two concurrent exhibitions chronicling the artistic journey of Tang Jixiang have launched in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, and Sydney, Australia, showcasing his decades-long exploration of Chinese-Western artistic fusion.
Tang, an art advisor and former vice president of the Guangdong Academy of Painting, who also ranks as a first-class artist entitled to the State Council special allowance, works across a wide range of genres, including Chinese painting, oil painting and printmaking. His works have won national awards, with many representative pieces collected by the National Art Museum of China.
The Guangzhou show titled Searching for the Meaning: Tang Jixiang Creation and Research Exhibition runs from June 23 to Aug10 at the Guangdong Academy of Painting in Baiyun district, displaying nearly 200 works and creative documents, most of which are making their public debut.
The Sydney exhibition is named Jixiang Tang: A Cross-Cultural Painting Journey. It is being held at the Museum of Chinese in Australia (MOCA) from June 27 to 29, featuring 30 cross-cultural works created during Tang's Australian residence that highlight East-West aesthetic fusion.
