The much-anticipated Baiyun District Dragon Boat Open will finally take place on July 4 at East Lake of Baiyun Lake, running from 9 am to 8 pm.

The announcement was made at a mobilization ceremony held on June 28, which also launched the Baiyun Session of the 2026 Guangzhou Sports Consumption Season and the Dragon Boat Outdoor Consumption Season.

The core racing session features 600-meter straight races for standard 22-person dragon boats, with nearly 30 teams competing across three categories — men's village group, women's open group and a four-district friendly tournament — delivering high-level competitive action.

Beyond the races, a dragon boat carnival will be held on July 4-5 and July 11-12, offering a lineup of cultural and culinary experiences.

Highlights include a pottery exhibition, a Cantonese dialect challenge with limited-edition souvenirs, lakeside Cantonese afternoon tea, and traditional dragon boat feasts — seamlessly integrating sports, culture and gastronomy.
