3 major rail projects in Baiyun set to open in 2026
Three major rail projects in Guangzhou's Baiyun district are entering the final stretch of construction and are scheduled to open by 2026.
The 46.17-kilometer section, running from Xintang South Station to Zhuliao Station on the Xintang-Baiyun Airport-Guangzhou North Railway Station Intercity Railway, is 99 percent complete and is targeting a late July opening. It will feature seven stations and traverse the Huadu, Baiyun, Huangpu, and Zengcheng districts of Guangzhou, linking to key metro lines, including Metro Lines 14 and 21.

The 8-km middle section of Line 12 has completed long-rail welding, with 90 percent of overall civil works completed. The line is scheduled to open this year. Once fully operational, it will enable direct travel between the city center, Baiyun Railway Station and the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center.
The western section of the Phase-II Metro Line 13, featuring 19 stations across Baiyun, Yuexiu, and Tianhe districts, has reached 96 percent completion in civil works as of June. It's also expected to open within the year. Full operation will significantly shorten travel times between these districts, easing congestion in central urban areas.
