The Baiyun Dragon and Lion Dance Association Team has once again brought glory to the district, securing top honors at the ninth Asian Lion Dance Invitational Tournament, recently held at the Yuen Wo Road Sports Center in Hong Kong.

The tournament brought together top lion dance troupes from around the world for a spectacular display of skill and tradition. Representing Baiyun district, the team delivered a stunning performance, claiming first place in the High-Pole Routine and third place in the Traditional Southern Lion Routine.

Founded in January 2024, the Baiyun District Dragon and Lion Dance Association is spearheaded by the Guangdong Baiyun University. It serves as a professional industry association, bringing together folk lion dance troupes, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and campus coaches.

In recent years, the district has actively revitalized this intangible cultural heritage by establishing performance platforms and integrating dragon and lion dance into school curricula.

In 2024, the Guangdong Baiyun University's lion dance program was recognized as an outstanding "ICH in Campus" case in Guangzhou. That same year, a team selected by the Baiyun Association clinched the High-Pole Southern Lion championship at the fourth Traditional Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance International Competition and the Traditional Chinese Sports International Championship.

In 2025, the district's teams won two golds, one silver, and one bronze at the Guangzhou Youth Lion Dance Championships.
