Baiyun experiences bumper early rice harvest
Baiyun district of Guangzhou is witnessing a bumper early rice harvest, with average wet rice yield exceeding 1,150 jin (575 kilograms) per mu (0.07 hectares).
The output is 150 jin above the spring sowing target and 350 jin higher than that of previous years, bucking unfavorable weather conditions, local agricultural authorities said. Harvesting began on the first 138 mu of rice fields at Xialiang Agricultural Park, Longgui sub-district, on July 10.

With a total of 3,214 mu of early-season rice planted in the district, over 500 mu have been harvested so far.

This year's early rice is thriving, thanks to close planting, premium rice varieties, scientific field management, and green pest control practices. [Photo/WeChat account: gz_baiyunfabu]
