Baiyun's badminton star wins single world title
Liang Weikeng, a native of Baiyun district, Guangzhou, and his partner Wang Chang, won the men's doubles championship at the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi, India, on Aug 23.
During the thrilling finale, Liang and Wang, China's third-seeded men's doubles pair, defeated Malaysia's fourth seeds, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, in straight sets, 21-17, 21-16.

This victory marks Liang and Wang's first World Championships title and ends an eight-year drought for China in the men's doubles category.
Liang also becomes the ninth badminton world champion from Guangzhou. While he secured three team world championship titles in earlier years, this is his first individual world championship accolade.
