The 15th Zhengxian Cultural Tourism Week opened on Sept 6 on Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou's Baiyun district, promising a grand gathering integrating performances, traditional Chinese medicine wellness, folklore fairs and cross-mountain cultural tourism. It will run until Sept 19.

Zhengxian Festival, also known as Guangzhou's First Birth Festival, has a rich history dating back over 1,600 years and is based on the legend of Zheng Anqi, an alchemist who ascended to immortality after saving the people of Guangzhou.

The festival's main attraction is the innovative "Seven Mountains Interactive Blessing Tour", which includes the release of the "Zhengxian Festival Blessing Passport". Visitors can collect stamps across seven renowned mountains in Guangdong, gaining access to diverse experiences like forest therapy and TCM study tours.

Chen Kaiyan, deputy director of the Baiyun Mountain's Mingchun Valley Scenic Area, emphasized the initiative's role in promoting regional cultural tourism and boosting local economic development.

Baiyun Mountain, in partnership with Ecwalk, formerly known as Guangzhou Tourism Company, also launched two-day and three-day forest wellness tours, offering exclusive discounts and experiences like forest hiking and herbal cuisine.

Throughout September, various activities will cater to all age groups, bringing the ancient Zhengxian culture closer to the public and highlighting Guangzhou's integrated eco-cultural tourism development.
