Guangzhou Children's Park, an entertainment haven for families located in Baiyun district of Guangzhou, has been awarded the prestigious Large Urban Parks Award by World Urban Parks (WUP), a global network for green spaces.

This accolade, often dubbed the Oscar Award of the park world, recognizes parks globally that excel in community impact and environmental health.

The park stood out due to its groundbreaking achievements in creating a child-friendly city, ecological restoration, inclusive design, and innovative governance.

Established in 1958, it has transformed from a former airport site into a flagship space for children. It spans 31.96 hectares and has welcomed over 53 million visitors since its reopening in 2014. The park's innovative "sponge city" design and ecological restoration efforts have enhanced biodiversity and mitigated the effects of urban heat.

Emphasizing inclusive play, the park features 24 themed play areas and the nation's first playground for children with disabilities. It fosters children's participation through initiatives like the "Little Park Manager" program and hosts over 300 annual events that promote cultural heritage through interactive experiences.
