The inaugural Guangzhou Innovation Science and Technology Awards announced its winners, with the city's Baiyun district having 10 projects and three individuals honored.

The awards, established by the Guangzhou Science and Technology Service Industry Association and the Guangzhou Science and Technology Progress Foundation under the guidance of the Guangzhou municipal science and technology bureau, emphasize a comprehensive, non-profit approach to recognizing scientific and technological achievements.

Baiyun's projects span a diverse range of innovators, including universities, research institutes, and enterprises, covering cutting-edge fields. Noteworthy projects include advancements in waste resource utilization and breakthroughs in treating femoral head necrosis and osteoporosis.

The district's three award-winning individuals, all under 40, highlight the district's efforts in nurturing high-level young talent. Their research spans marine engineering, biomedical sciences, and digital construction.

They are Zhang Dongfang from CCCC Group, Zhang Jing from Southern Medical University, and Chen Hang from Guangzhou Institute of Building Science Group, each contributing significantly to their respective fields.

The district's achievements underscore its commitment to promoting innovation-driven development and its strategic focus on innovation to energize enterprises' vitality.
