Based in Guangzhou's Baiyun district, the Guangzhou New Power System Demonstration Zone with Distribution-Microgrid Synergy of China Southern Power Grid was unveiled as a Global Power Lighthouse Model at Huawei Connect 2026 in Shanghai on Sept 18.

As a premier annual event for global ICT and industry intelligence, Huawei Connect 2026 brought together cutting-edge technologies and innovative practices from around the world, serving as an authoritative platform for international industry exchange and the release of achievements.

This recognition marks a significant milestone for Baiyun district in the digital and intelligent construction of power distribution networks in a megacity. It signals global industry recognition of its practical achievements in this field.

As a central district in a megacity, Baiyun faces complex conditions, including urban villages and significant challenges in ensuring a reliable power supply, making it a representative case for power distribution management in large urban areas in China.

The project focuses on constructing new power systems. It has addressed urban village power supply through digital solutions such as virtual power plants and flexible load control, easing land use and infrastructure challenges.

By collaborating with industry partners and capitalizing on technology and algorithms, it has developed the replicable "Guangzhou Solution" and "Baiyun Model".
