Guangzhou's Baiyun district has been approved as the first provincial-level foreign trade transformation and upgrade base for the new-type energy storage industry, marking a significant step in the district's development and upgrading of foreign trade in this sector.

In recent years, Baiyun has prioritized the new-type energy storage industry as a strategic emerging sector, leveraging global energy transformation opportunities and industrial growth.

By focusing on infrastructure development, innovation empowerment, talent acquisition, leading enterprise cultivation, and opening up, the district has been endeavoring to enhance the quality and efficiency of the energy storage industry cluster and optimize the foreign trade structure.

In 2025, Baiyun's foreign trade exceeded 100 billion yuan ($14.9 billion), with exports of new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells increasing by 50.1 percent year-on-year. Felicitysolar, a leading solar energy enterprise based in the district, contributed significantly, with exports reaching 4.96 billion yuan.

The district hosts China's only National New Energy Storage Innovation Center, attracting top industry players such as China Southern Power Grid and CATL and fostering a robust innovation ecosystem.

Baiyun continues to strengthen its position by unveiling policies to support the high-quality development of the new-type energy storage industry, attract high-level talent, and support comprehensive industry development, aiming to transform into a national-level foreign trade transformation and upgrade base in the sector.
