Baiyun district in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, has made strides in fostering high-quality small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as evidenced by the latest batch of national "little giant" enterprises released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

According to the newly released results, the district added eight new companies to this prestigious list, ranking second in the city in terms of new additions. Notably, seven existing enterprises passed their re-evaluation, bringing the total to 37 national-level "little giant" enterprises and 527 provincial-level specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative SMEs, alongside 859 innovative SMEs.

"Little giant" enterprises refer to the novel elites of SMEs that are engaged in manufacturing, specialize in a niche market, and boast cutting-edge technologies.

Despite a nationwide tightening of selection criteria, Baiyun's achievement reflects a shift from quantity to quality in SME development.

The newly recognized enterprises span cutting-edge sectors such as autonomous driving, hydrogen energy, low-altitude security, industrial machinery, and smart home appliances. Companies like SAITE Intelligence and Guangzhou Shengxun Electronic Technology are emerging as leaders in their respective fields.

These accomplishments underscore Baiyun's dynamic innovation landscape, with its SMEs accelerating growth and setting benchmarks in their industries. As the district continues to cultivate its industrial ecosystem, it is poised to produce more "hidden champions" that drive technological advancement and economic growth.
