More than 200 overseas Chinese leaders, entrepreneurs, and enterprise representatives gathered in Baiyun district, Guangzhou, on Oct 21 for a conference focused on how overseas Chinese can help drive high-quality economic development.

At the event, Baiyun released its Several Measures for Deepening Services for Overseas Chinese, rolling out 20 initiatives across seven fields — government affairs, education, healthcare, law, talent, finance, and culture — to make it easier for overseas Chinese to invest, start businesses, and settle in the district.

Three overseas Chinese-funded and foreign-related industrial projects were signed, with a total planned investment exceeding 1 billion yuan ($150.11 million). They include a global Cantonese merchants' overseas expansion service base, a China-Canada green building industry cooperation platform, and the Jindong International Fashion Creative Port, covering enterprise outbound services, international green building cooperation, and fashion industry development.

A volunteer service team for overseas Chinese, composed of young overseas Chinese entrepreneurs, was also launched.

Baiyun's GDP reached 164.9 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, up 4.5 percent year-on-year. The district is home to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, the country's largest TOD hub at Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station, and the Guangzhou assembly center for China-Europe freight trains, which ranks first in Guangdong province in terms of service frequency.
